Meet 2025 Residential Captain Paige Mills

Why did you apply to be a college captain?

I applied in hope to make a positive impact on the college. I strive to be a role model for students, and I want the chance to connect with a wider range of students and listen to their opinions. I felt this role would assist me in building confidence and resilience.

What do you imagine the role to be?

When applying for this role I imagined it being both rewarding and challenging. I expect to be involved with student initiatives, organising college events, and fostering a positive college environment.

What do you hope to achieve?

During my time as the 2025 College Residential Captain, I am looking forward to connecting with other students and making them feel like they belong and are welcome. I am excited to demonstrate my ability to take on responsibility to help improve the connection within the college.

What do you think some of the challenges will be?

Some challenges that may arise to me while in this role include balancing the responsibility of the role with my studies, managing conflicts between others, and ensuring inclusivity. I plan to address these challenges with a positive mindset and attempt to resolve the issues as effectively as I can.

What are the skills/attributes that you’ll bring to the role?

Some skills I strive to bring into the role of residential captain include integrity, resilience, teamwork, empathy, communication and leadership. All these skills will help me to connect to students and effectively make a positive impact. Having good teamwork skills in this role will help to work collaboratively with other students and listen to everyone’s opinions and build strong relationships within the college community. Integrity is a very import skill for this role as I need to demonstrate honesty and a strong sense of responsibility.

How do you want to feel about the role at the end of 2025?

At the end of 2025 I would like to recognise my personal developments during my time in the role and I would like to feel pride in the positive changes and contributions I have made to the college community. I would also like to feel gratitude for the opportunity to this role and support students within the college.
