Welcome Letter to College Families

8th January 2024

Dear Parents and members of the wider St Savour’s College family,

Welcome to the St Saviour’s College community in 2024. It is with great warmth and excitement, I introduce myself as the Principal of St Saviour’s College.

I hope the Christmas season brought you plenty of space to enjoy to the warmth and blessings of family time, celebration and all the wonder of the birth of our Saviour - for whom our great College is named. As the beginning of the 2024 school year creeps closer, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the College leadership team.

I am passionate about St Saviour’s College and all that being a Mercy school offers. Grounded in the revolutionary example of Catherine McAuley and the lived example the Sisters of Mercy have been for our great College for 150 years, SSC will continue to provide exceptional educational opportunities for girls. At my core, I know and believe in the liberating nature of education and its potential to empower each of us for a changing world.

Over the last three years, in my tenure as Deputy Principal, I have been bestowed so many blessings by the College community. The students of SSC have brought me great joy. I have loved their energised spirit, their hospitable welcome of others and most of all, the relationships I have experienced with them over time. College families have invited me on their daughter’s educational journey, on the road from the creation of learning goals to the concrete pathways that make these goals post-schooling realities. I have been surrounded by passionate and learner-centred teachers and staff, who, on a daily basis, walk alongside students in their learning. The St Saviour’s College community is exceptional, and I am privileged to lead it into the future.

It is my vision that St Saviour’s College will continue to envelope students in the life-giving mercy story and continue to achieve excellent educational outcomes across a range of pathways. Important to me is that St Saviour’s College is place where all students are known, nurtured, and supported to reach their potential.

In 2024, the College will be led by an energetic Mercy-hearted and learner-centred team, with many familiar, and some new, faces.

  • Deputy Principal: Teaching and Learning - Eleighta Hannam
  • Assistant Principal: Mission and Identity - Leah Dempster
  • Assistant Principal: Well-being and Engagement - Megan Schulze
  • Head of Boarding: Nicole Booth
  • Business Manager: Chris Blomquist

Our relationship with you as parents is fundamental to your daughter’s educational experience and success at school. We are here to work in partnership with you to ensure your daughter is known, nurtured and supported to succeed. I am confident this team of passionate educators and experts in their field will bring energy and expertise to the College and an excellent experience of our Mercy values of hospitality and compassion for you, our parent body and your daughters.

I am so looking forward to having your daughter with us in 2024. Enjoy the last fleeting weeks of holidays. I look forward to welcoming your daughter back to school on Tuesday 23rd January.

Kind regards,

Jessica Wade
